  Requires splash and spray guards on truck tractor and
semitrailer combinations. Imposes maximum fine of $180.
 
                        A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to splash and spray guards.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
  SECTION 1.  { + Section 2 of this 2007 Act is added to and made
a part of the Oregon Vehicle Code. + }
  SECTION 2.  { + (1) A person commits the offense of operation
without splash and spray guards if the person operates on any
highway or owns and causes or knowingly permits to be operated on
any highway a truck tractor and semitrailer combination without
splash and spray guards as described in subsection (2) of this
section.
  (2) A person is in violation of subsection (1) of this section
if a truck tractor and semitrailer combination is not equipped
with splash and spray guards mounted at every double wheel well
on each side of the vehicle. Splash and spray guards required
under this section must be of sufficient size and constructed so
as to be capable at all times of arresting and deflecting dirt,
mud, water or other substances that may be picked up and carried
by the wheels.
  (3) The offense described in this section, operation without
splash and spray guards, is a Class C traffic violation. + }
